Focus: Oxide-based catalysts and nanocomposites for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER).
Collaborating with national labs and universities, Dr. Kumar has contributed to high-impact studies on metal oxides (e.g., RuO₂, TiO₂, and iron titanates) to enhance OER efficiency. He co-developed block copolymer-mediated nanocomposites and helped elucidate catalytic mechanisms via spectroscopic studies and synchrotron-based techniques. His group’s work in this area advances the understanding of how structure, defect states, and composite interfaces impact catalytic activity.
